According to an article published by The Verge, Regina Dugan, a former director of DARPA andnow head of the secretive Building 8 research group, said that the goal of the project is tocreate "something as simple as a yes-no brain click," which would completely change the waypeople interact with technology.

Stanford University has already created a similar technology that has been shown to enablepeople with paralysis to communicate without the use of their hands. Unlike the Stanfordproject, the ultimate goal of the Building 8 group is to create a non-invasive version of thetechnology through optical imaging.
